Develop habits of perseverance, focus, adopt -"do it now", and "do it right" attitude ! We should know that every second of our worktime belongs to the employer. the employers do not pay us to horseplay, loaf or seat idly & engage in trivial chitchats.

An outstanding worker works with dedication and diligence, takes their jobs seriously. Let each of us show to our partners (employers) that we are worth their every Peso or Dollar and more...Make them realize by our sheer hard work that if they lose us, they lose more! Let us slowly change our mindset and work habits, to that of a responsible and productive worker so that in time the market forces/preferences will change, and the demand for workers like us will grow bigger, with more employers.. local and foreign.. trying to recruit and employ us, as the best worker there is.

The partnership between the dependable and productive employees with the socially responsible and compassionate employers, assisted by the governments effort to improve and implement related regulations in encouraging and assisting investments (including micro, small, medium enterprises) will give the Philippines a headstart for a better economy, and ultimately a decline in unemployment rate.
Cyclone on "BPO industry" http://www.marroxas.com/forum/topic/bpo-industry#post-132 Sun, 10 Jan 2010 13:51:24 +0000 Cyclone 132@http://www.marroxas.com/forum/
aghree ako kay UP Lakan. And working in a call center is as good a source as any. Basta marunong tayo mag-ipon at hindi natin makalimutan na namamasukan lang tayo para mabuhay at makapag-ipon, para pag lumaon, makapagtayo tayo ng sarili nating negosyo na matatawag nating atin. Cheaper even than here.

The best that can be done, to my mind, is for call center agents, regardless if they're college graduates to slug it out for a few years, save up, and plan a future to invest in. Either go into further studies while you're employed in the call center (I have a number of friends who became lawyers that way) or think of a sound business plan with relatively low capital requirements. And manage your time and money well. Although you may work odd hours, you won't be working long hours. So instead of blowing all your money enjoying and drinking, try to save some up so you can get out of your dead-end job (no offense to call center agents. I'm actually a fan of the relatively higher entry level pay.)
BSJ on "MSMEs" http://www.marroxas.com/forum/topic/msmes#post-80 Sat, 19 Dec 2009 09:43:34 +0000 BSJ 80@http://www.marroxas.com/forum/
Given the sorry state of our economy (not to mention my/our personal finances), is there any room for entrepreneurship in the Philippines? I'm a call center agent.

To those who don't know, BPO stands for business process outsourcing which essentially entails the farming out or contracting out of certain parts or phases of a step or steps in a business process.

A call center is one example. Usually with call centers, after sales customer support is what's contracted out by the companies. Although there are those that "push" for sales. But BPO's aren't limited to call centers. Virtually any part of the business process can be outsourced.

I don't know the specifics of other BPO industries, pero sa call centers:

Pro's: the educational requirement isn't as stringent as other jobs. Pwedeng kahit high school graduate, basta pakiramdam ng HR kayang i-train, malamang sa hindi, tatanggapin. Mataas ang initial salary considering entry level palang. Exciting kasi halos puro "bata" mga kasama mo sa trabaho. And you grow because it involves a lot of interaction with people.

Con's: nakakasawa rin minsan. pero sa taong kumakayod at pamilyado, it's a decent source of steady income. mataas yung initial na sweldo, pero hindi ganun kabilis umangat. relatively flat kasi yung organization. team member to team lead to manager is as far as most people go in 8 to 10 years as far as I know.

enzo1213 on "Unemployment" http://www.marroxas.com/forum/topic/unemployment#post-60 Thu, 17 Dec 2009 14:09:46 +0000 enzo1213 60@http://www.marroxas.com/forum/
more alternative livelihood programs for farmers specially now that cropping season is frequently interrupted by typhoons. maybe cottage industries that make use of indigenous materials. then the government must extend the necessary training and marketing.
christian on "Unemployment" http://www.marroxas.com/forum/topic/unemployment#post-50 Wed, 16 Dec 2009 13:08:11 +0000 christian 50@http://www.marroxas.com/forum/
yes, let's get temporary jobs for seasonal workers like farmers or sakadas. i'm from the province, my grandfather has his own farm albeit just small. i accompany him every start of the crop season and harvest time. one thing i notice is that seasonal farm-hands are particularly energetic and happy during these times because they have jobs. but afterwards, during the interval between planting and harvesting, they're jobless. the government must make a program for such kind of workers.
annieo on "BPO industry" http://www.marroxas.com/forum/topic/bpo-industry#post-39 Tue, 15 Dec 2009 09:18:56 +0000 annieo 39@http://www.marroxas.com/forum/
What are the benefits of working in the BPO industry? which part of it is most exciting?
