Safety and Infrastructure. Key to tourism boost. We already have the Filipino hospitality in place. Great Food and excellent sights, not to mention the beaches we could offer. We are presently more aware of the environment, however ther is still alot to learn. Someone mentioned Loren to good in environment, I say, most of us are good environmentalists, if we practice it.
Kidnappings _ unfortunately, some groups, or even individuals want to cash in on fast buck through this shenanigans. Pathetic actually, of this people.
honest to goodness leadership, which I believe Noy and Mar will be propagating should see a downward spiral on this incidence, since people would have new hope, sort of a Ray of Hope in the horizon could be seen.
Thailand has benefitted most from the tourism boom. Vietnam and Cambodia are stil capitalizing on this. Phileippines, sadly.... we are still lagging behind. Way behind actually. I have been engaged in Hong Kong's travel industry, and I could say that of the tourists departing from Hong Kong, 98% would NOT choose to go to the Philippines. Let it be known that Hong Kong is Multi-Cultural society.
Cheers!

I love to travel; though the destinations I've been to isn't a lot. However, I have long realized that tourism is indeed a major source of income for any country. Tourism is the main reason why country's all over the world are vying for the Olympics to be held in their country. Tourism is truly a very vital source that we should give more time and resources to. Major "KATCHING!!! $$$$$" to our country.

Having said this, tourism also has major prerequisites to accomplish before it becomes successful... this, of course is peace & security for the tourists. And as we all know, it takes someone with a strong backbone and political will to strengthen security issues in our country. Sino pa ba than Mar Roxas!

I do hope Vice President Mar Roxas would address this major source of revenue for the government after he wins the 2010 elections.

Kultura. Our country has a rich heritage. I hope it can be preserved and also made accessible to people. E.g. historical sites, 'wag sana maging masyadong commercial. E.g. Mindanao's cultural tapestry, 'wag sana ako makidnap or worse.

Kalikasan. There are a lot of beautiful places in the Philippines. Tangkilikin naman natin.

Karakter. Ok, pilit 'tong huli hehe Pero in general, marami talagang magaganda ang ugali sa mga Pinoy, at palagay ko isa 'to sa mga dahilan bakit tayo dinadayo rito.

After Gracia Burnham and the slew of other kidnappings, after hearing about the Ampatuan massacre, I think any leader would be hard-pressed to make the Philippines a prime tourist destination. Although, I sure as heck would love to be proven wrong. I think it would be nice to wake up in the morning, dress, step out of house and see people of different ethnicities right on the street.

after the elections, I'd love to see the Philippines become a tourist hotspot. We have so many beautiful beaches and even mountains, countysides etc, that no one seems to appreciate - even the FIlipinos. Developing the tourism industry also generates jobs, bring in foreign investments and will allow us to showcase our culture and beautiful country.
