Noy-Mar only tandem that can give us real change – Davide

The tandem of Liberal Party presidential bet Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and vice presidential frontrunner Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas is the only tandem with unquestionable integrity that is really fit to lead and could give real change for the country.

This was the reason that prodded former Chief Justice Hilario G. Davide Jr. to give his all-out support to the entire slate of Liberal Party because “as a Filipino I really want the Philippines to achieve its long dream of real change.”

“I think this is the best time for our country to really have a real change and that can only be accomplished through the leadership of Noynoy and Mar,” Davide said in an interview in Cebu City.

Davide, known for his integrity and probity as a public official after the EDSA 1 Revolution, said the forthcoming election in May 10 is another test for Filipinos who have dreamed for a long time for peaceful, progressive, and well-developed Philippines.

Davide said he resigned as the Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations effective last April 1 although his term was to last until June 30 “to personally campaign for Noynoy (Aquino) and Mar (Roxas)” in Cebu.

“My term (as UN ambassador) would have ended June 30, 2010, but I just had to come to be able to enlighten our people on the need to choose the best. So here I am, campaigning hard, knowing that a victory will be sure for Noynoy and Mar and the entire LP,” Davide said.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena said the Osmena clan and the Cebuanos supported Aquino and Roxas because they were the right leaders with integrity who could bring good not only for Cebu but for the entire nation.

“We need a government that is clean. We need a government that does not have any stain on its integrity,” said Osmena noting that Aquino and Roxas are the only candidates running for the presidential and vice presidential race where their “integrity” is “unquestionable.”
