NPs are like Rizal’s rotting fishes – LP

Liberal Party officials today taunted the Nacionalista Party for its indifference to the historical value of the EDSA 1 People Power revolution in the country’s history.

LP Director General Chito Gascon said Nacionalista leaders’ expression of lack of appreciation for the 1986 bloodless revolt that ousted the dictator Ferdinand Marcos make them prime examples of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal’s character who does not achieve his ambition because he did not cherish his past.

The term Nacionalista is a misnomer because these NP politicians do not cherish the value of EDSA 1 in restoring democracy in our country. Without EDSA 1, the Nacionalistas will not even be able to field any candidates in the May elections because we are either still under a dictatorship or have broken up as a nation,” according to Gascon.

At the same time, Gascon said, the Nacionalista’s anger at the Liberal Party’s call for renewal of people power is understandable given that most of them served the Marcos dictatorship as Marcos was an NP president when he declared martial law, or share the same character as President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her underlings who have been openly cavorting with the Nacionalistas for the coming elections like former Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante of the fertilizer fund scam infamy who is also the NP’s candidate for governor in Capiz province.

“Masahol pa sila sa malansang isda ni Dr. Rizal (They are worse than Rizal’s rotting fishes),” Gascon said.

Ganyan ang maaasahan sa isang administrasyong hawak ng mga Nacionalista — walang People Power, walang kasaysayan, at walang paroroonan (That is what we can expect from a government controlled by the Nacionalistas – no people power, no respect for history, and thus no direction),” Gascon added.
